2009 Summer Internship Program

Looking for a summer internship for college credit or work experience for your resume? We are currently accepting resumes for a Special Events Intern for the Summer 2009 season!

As an organization our vision is to support and sustain a vibrant, healthy economy in the greater Steamboat Springs area. One of our primary focuses is to enhance Steamboat Springs as a year round vacation destination and we specifically help to promote the non-ski season months, as the marketing support for Steamboat in the Summertime.

We are a small and very efficient office made up of staff who are responsible for advertising, online communications and public relations, membership, the Visitor Center, accounting, sponsorship sales and special events. The Special Events Department produces a handful of  Featured Events annually including: the Steamboat Marathon/Half Marathon/10K, the Mustang Roundup, the Hot Air Balloon Rodeo, our annual 4th of July Celebration, the Cowboys Roundup Days and our Wild West Air Fest.

As an intern in the Special Events Department you can expect to gain valuable experience working with Marketing, Public Relations and Membership Relations.

The Special Events Intern reports directly to the Special Events Director and Special Events Coordinator. This individual will assist with all phases of event planning and execution. Among other responsibilities the Special Events Intern will manage the volunteer staffing for all events, as well as, research new event opportunities, fulfill sponsorship agreements and implement day-of-event activities.

Our staff is small so the opportunities for involvement, education and growth are endless. The ideal candidate will have the desire to learn about event planning, marketing, sponsorship, people management, and community relations.

There is no housing or stipend available for this internship.
