About the Performance: This a performance filled with astounding whimsy and incalculable skill. The Golden Dragons Acrobats blend acrobatics with an eclectic score and dazzling costumes. Precision athletes teeter atop precarious stacks of chairs and twirl parasols with their toes. The performers, many of whom started training as young as four years old, are as limber as rubber bands, agile as cats and strong enough to accomplish unfathomable balancing feats. With mesmerizing spins, balancing, contortionism and seemingly impossible tricks, the ancient art of Chinese acrobatics earned its first fans when powerful emperors took interest 2,500 years ago. Hailing from Hebei, China, the Golden Dragon Acrobats have performed their award-winning choreography in more than 65 countries and all 50 states to widespread acclaim – including six weeks of sold-out performances and two New York Drama Desk nominations during their 2005 Broadway debut.
