Art Medium: Visual Arts - Oil Painting - Plein Air
Instructor: Bonnie McGee
Date: Friday, August 19th
Time: 10am-1pm
Where: This workshop will meet at the Bud Werner Memorial Library. Weather depending, participants will then move to a scenic location to paint outdoors.
About the Workshop: Bonnie McGee will lead a three-hour session featuring an introduction to plein air painting covering equipment, set-up, subject and composition. After a half-hour demonstration by the instructor, students will choose a subject and start painting with personal attention from McGee. A multi-page handout will be provided giving definitions, illustrations and information to enhance the learning experience. Some painting experience is helpful.
About the Artist: Since taking on painting full-time, former high school teacher Bonnie McGee has studied with some of the most noted artists in the plein air field, showcasing her work in numerous galleries and events including the Estes Park Plein Air Festival. Her work, developed through a lifelong love of visual art, begins with dark, transparent oil washes, and progresses from thin to thick, dark to light, hoping to capture a moment without excessive detail.
Around Town: See samples of McGee’s work at the Artists’ Gallery of Steamboat, where she is a co-owner.
