STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, CO – Located just steps from downtown Steamboat Springs, Howelsen Hill, the oldest ski area in continuous use in Colorado, with the largest and most complete natural ski jumping complex in North America, has just added a NEW activity for the winter 2007-2008 schedule.

Beginning Friday, December 14th, snow tubing will be the newest attraction at Howelsen Hill. To earn your hot chocolate and get that mid-winter rosy check glow, plunk your bottom down on a cushy snowtube and scream down the hill side with kids and adults of all ages.

How exactly does snow tubing work? It’s easy! Simply ride the Magic Carpet (a slow moving conveyer belt) to the top of the course and slide down riding a tube provided at the hill.  There is a special lane for those desiring a slower experience. Tubing really is a fun, exhilarating winter activity for kids and adults of all ages.

“Snow tubing is a fantastic addition to any ski vacation because the whole family can get involved and do it together,” says Chad Bowdre, the Director of Tubing Steamboat. “This really is a must-do experience; everyone can do it no matter their skiing skill level. Experts and beginners alike will enjoy tubing.”

Snow Tubing is a new aspect of an incredibly exciting hill with all of the winter sports activity including nordic jumping, cross-country skiing, a terrain park, alpine racing and freestyle moguls and aerials happening all around you. Everybody loves tubing, day or night (the course is lit for nighttime thrill seekers) and you don’t need skis or a snowboard. This is a must-do experience for all ages.

Tubing Steamboat sessions begin on the hour and last one hour in length. Tubing Steamboat at Howelsen will operate, weather and snow conditions permitting, Dec. 14 - April 1 daily, afternoons and evenings. The proceeds will benefit the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club and its 1,100 young local athletes. Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Clue was nationally recognized as the USSA 2007 club of the year.

Contact Tubing Steamboat at 970.819.8010 with questions or to make your winter reservations.
