Wild West Airfest Planes:
An exciting part of the Wild West Air Fest is that you can be apart of the action and fly in the Douglas C-47 Skytrain, or Dakota, a military transport aircraft that was developed from the Douglas DC-3 airliner. It was used extensively by the Allies during World War II and remained in front line operations through the 1950s with a few remaining in operation to this day.  C-47 and many other plane rides are available!

Young Eagles
If you are between the ages of 8 and 17 years old, the EAA Young Eagles Program want to offer you the chance of a lifetime, to experience the Yampa Valley from the sky! The Young Eagles will be offering the first 50 kids to sign up a free plane ride departing from the Steamboat Springs Airport at 8am Monday, September 5th.  Volunteers will be signing up kids at the Wild West Air Fest all weekend. Visit the FOB office between 9am-3pm, Saturday and Sunday for your chance to fly. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Volunteer Experience:

Do you have a passion for airplanes or flying? The 7th Annual Wild West Air Fest has plenty of amazing airplanes to ogle at; whether you love new or old there is something for everyone. Come help us out in our Kidspace where you will help kids to build model airplanes out of candy and wood or even a Styrofoam rocket ship. If you’re more into flying, help the kids while they navigate the airplane simulators.  Every volunteer will receive free admission into the event, a free volunteer t-shirt, and a free dawn patrol flight around the Yampa Valley. For more information about volunteering please contact Sarah at 970-875-7006.
