“The Steamboat Marathon is a unique combination of beautiful scenery and extraordinary people, which makes this race fun for everyone who participates,” says Paul Sachs, the Steamboat Marathon Race Director. "Runners from all over the country look forward to the Steamboat Marathon because it is still a relatively small race with a hometown feel and it’s a race where every runner counts."

Please be patient if you don't see your name right away, our turnaround time is about two weeks once we receive a registration form.
Please email marathon@steamboatchamber.com if you have any questions.

Registration Transfers:
We allow runners to transfer their bibs to another person if they’re unable to run. We do not have a waiting list.

To post a message to buy or sell a bib, you can go to www.craigslist.com. Postings should be under Denver/ for sale / sporting. It is the runner’s responsibility to find someone to buy/transfer their bib. We are unable to help runnners find buyers.

Road Closure

*From 6:00 A.M. until 3:00 P.M. we will be closing the westbound lane of Lincoln Avenue from 5th to 11th for the finish of all the races. The side streets off of Lincoln Ave to Oak Street that will be closed are 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th.
*TBD due to downtown construction

We will have traffic controls in place for vehicular traffic on Hwy 129 again this year. Northbound traffic on 129 will be diverted to the left lane just past the entrance to Elk River Estates and proceed north to Cullens Corner where traffic controllers will be in place. Southbound traffic on 129 will be diverted at Cullens Corner onto RCR 44, and then back onto 129 at the intersection of 44 and 129 just north of the airport. From Cullens Corner to the start of the half marathon at approximately Moon Hill there will be one way traffic, controlled by a pilot car leading the traffic on the west side of the road. Traffic controls and pilot car operations will be in place. Traffic Control Area Map

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I bring my baby stroller any of the race courses?
No. Due to other runners and the county roads being open to local traffic. Also, baby strollers do not fit through the finish line shoots.

May I bring my dog or headphones/i pod?
No. All the races are on county roads open to local traffic. All runners need to be able to hear traffic and fellow runners.

Is it okay for my friend, parent or spouse to ride their bike along side me while I run?
We strongly advise against it. The roads are technically open to traffic, but we prefer there to be no bikes on the course. For safety considerations we ask that everyone leave their bikes at home.

Where’s the best place for my family and friends to watch me run?
Anywhere along Lincoln Avenue or at the finish line at the courthouse lawn on Lincoln Avenue.

Is the Steamboat Marathon a Boston Marathon qualifying race?
Yes, because our course is USATF (USA Track and Field) certified, our race is a Boston qualifier.

If I find that I can’t run for whatever reason, may I transfer my bib number to my friend?
Yes. Please check the section above titled Registration Transfers

Now that the half marathon is full, can I get my name on the wait list?
No. We do not have a wait list. See the section above titled Registration Transfers

I just found out I’m pregnant and can’t run, what can I do?
For pregnancies we allow women to carry over their registration payment to use for the 2011 race. Please mail or email your race confirmation to marathon@steamboatchamber.com and we will reassign your bib number.

It is the runner’s responsibility to re-register in 2011. We will not automatically register you for the next year’s race. You will need to fax in a registration form for the 2011 race and make a note that you’re a carry over from 2010. We can not process any carry over registrations on active.com, nor will we refund any registration fees. Or see the above section titled Registration Transfers

Is my registration fee refundable?
No. Entry fees are not refundable. No Exceptions.

What if I can’t make it to packet pick-up?
A friend or relative can pick up your packet, but they must have your e-mail or postcard confirmation. There will be no race day packet pick-up. No Exceptions.
