Registration Transfers:
We allow runners to “transfer” their bibs to another person if they’re unable to run. We will not have a waiting list. To post a message to buy or sell a bib, you can go to www.craigslist.com, then go to "Denver" on the right hand side of the screen, "for sale" in the middle of the screen, then "sporting". We strongly discourage runners from buying or selling bibs for more than $45, the cost of the half marathon. It is the runner’s responsibility to find someone to buy/transfer their bib. We will not be able to help people find buyers. Once you’ve made contact with someone who wants to buy your bib, please follow these guidelines:
1. The financial transaction for the entry fee and exchange of entry confirmation card is strictly between the transferring runner and the person with the entry. We strongly discourage runners from buying or selling bibs for more than $45, the cost of the half marathon.
2. A transfer runner must send in a completed Transfer Registration form with a valid runners confirmation card or email, and a check for $10 for the transfer fee to:
Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association
Attn: Marathon Transfer
P.O. Box 774408
Steamboat Springs, CO 80477 or fax to 970-879-2543
3. Transfers for race entries will be accepted if postmarked on or before May 26, 2006
4. Transfers will not be processed at bib pickup. No exceptions.
5. Please check the Steamboat Marathon web site registered runners list before the race to confirm that your transfer went through.
Please email marathon@steamboatchamber.com if you have any questions.

The deadline for transfers is Friday, May 26th. All transfer forms must be faxed in or postmarked by this date in order to be processed. Any transfer form received after May 26th will be returned. Please know that it is strongly discouraged for runners to buy or sell bibs for more than $45, the cost of the half marathon. The reason we created the transfer program was to move away from the wait list which was not effective. Often wait listed runners wouldn't find out till the week of or the day before the race that the were confirmed to run the half marathon. Most bibs won't come available for sale until May when people discover the are injured or have another obligation.

Pasta Dinner: 6:30 PM SATURDAY JUNE 3
Join us for a carbo load! Each year we invite a special guest speaker for the dinner. A healthy pasta dinner with a vegetarian option, salad and dessert is available, $15 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. Tickets are limited and can be purchased in advance on your Entry Form. If you've already registered for a race and then decided you want to come to the Pasta Dinner, it's not too late to join us! Tell us how many people are planning to attend and send us a check to: Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association, P.O. Box 774408, Steamboat Springs, CO 80477. Please make checks payable to: Steamboat Marathon. This year’s pasta dinner will be held at the new Strings in the Mountains location on the corner of Mt. Werner Road and Pine Grove Road.

Road Closure:
From 6:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. we will be closing the westbound lane of Lincoln Avenue from 5th to 11th for the finish of all the races. The side streets off of Lincoln Ave to Oak Street that will be closed are 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th.

We will be closing part of County Road 129 for non-residential traffic from County Road 44 to Cullen’s Corner. County Road 129 Northbound will be closed from Cullen’s Corner to Moon Hill Meadows, the Half Marathon start. North-bound traffic will be guided by pilot car in the southbound lane of 129 from Cullen’s Corner to the Half Marathon start. Southbound traffic will be guided from the Half Marathon start to Cullen’s Corner and then detoured onto Route 44. There will be delays along 129. Please try to avoid this heavily congested area for the safety of our runners and volunteers.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Can I bring my baby stroller any of the race courses?
No, because of all the other runners on the street and the fact that we are running on county roads with local traffic, it’s unsafe and not recommended to have baby strollers on the course. Also, the baby strollers don’t fit through the finish line shoots.

May I bring my dog or headphones/walkmans?
No, because of all the other runners on the street and the fact that we are running on county roads with local traffic, it’s unsafe and not recommended to bring your headsets or pets.

Is it okay for my friend, parent or spouse to ride their bike along side me while I run?
We strongly advise against it. The roads are technically still open to all traffic but we would prefer that you there were no bikes on the course. There are long traffic delays and a lot of pressure from local traffic and all the runners on the road at the same time. For safety considerations we ask that everyone leave their bikes at home.

Where’s the best place for my family and friends to watch me run?
Anywhere along Lincoln Avenue or at the finish line at the courthouse lawn on Lincoln Avenue. There will be places to park and plenty of places to watch the runners coming in to the finish.

If I find that I can’t run for whatever reason, may I transfer my bib number to my friend?
Yes, new this year, we’re allowing runners to “transfer” their numbers to another person. Please check the section above titled "Registration transfer." Once you’ve made contact with someone who wants to buy your bib, please follow these guidelines:

  1. The financial transaction for the entry fee and exchange of entry confirmation card is strictly between the transferring runner and the person with the entry.
  2. A transfer runner must send in a completed Transfer Registration form with a valid runners confirmation card or email, and a check for $10 for the transfer fee to:
    Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association
    Attn: Marathon Transfer
    P.O. Box 774408
    Steamboat Springs, CO 80477
  3. Transfers for race entries will be accepted if postmarked on or before May 26, 2006
  4. Transfers will not be processed at bib pickup. No exceptions.
  5. Please check the Steamboat Marathon web site before the race to confirm that your transfer went through.

Now that the half marathon is full, can I get my name on the wait list?
We're moving away from the wait list. Based on previous years experience, we're finding that the wait list doesn't work well. Often runners have to wait until the week of or the day before the race to get a confirmed entry. Now that we are allowing people to transfer their bibs there will be less bibs coming available because they will be transferred from one runner to another. We only accept runners off the wait list if another runner drops out and lets us know.

I just found out I’m pregnant and can’t run, what can I do?
For pregnancies we allow women to carry over their registration payment to use for the 2007 race. Please mail or email your race confirmation to marathon@steamboatchamber.com and we will reassign your bib number. It is the runner’s responsibility to re-register in 2007. We will not automatically register you for the next year’s race. You will need to fax in a registration form to the Chamber for the 2007 race and make a note that you’re a carry over from 2006. We can not process any carry over registrations on active.com, nor will we refund any registration fees.

Is my registration fee refundable?
No. Entry fees are not refundable. There are no exceptions.

What if I can’t make it to packet pick-up?
Please make every possible effort to pick up your packet during our scheduled packet pick-up times. There will be no race day packet pick-up. You can have a friend pick up your packet for you, but they must have your e-mail or postcard confirmation.
