With beautiful fall weather and hundreds of Greater Sandhill Cranes staging in the Yampa Valley before migrating south, September is a perfect time for a visit to Northwest Colorado.
The 3rd Annual Yampa Valley Crane Festival will take place Sept. 12 – 15, 2014 in Steamboat Springs and Hayden, Colorado. It will feature four days of free events including daily crane viewings, nature and bird walks, expert speakers, films, a bird art show, workshops, children’s and family activities, and more.
Dr. Richard Beilfuss, President and CEO of the International Crane Foundation will give the keynote talk entitled, "Cranes, Ambassadors for Conservation," at the Bud Werner Memorial LIbrary, Library Hall, at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 13.
Ted Floyd, editor of "Birding" magazine and author of the recently publish "ABA Field Guide to Birds of Colorado" will present a talk entitled "Learning about birds in the digital age: Lessons from Northwest Colorado" on Sunday, September 14 at 2:00 p.m. at Bud Werner Memorial Library in Library Hall. There will also be a book signing following his presentation.
Many of the events will be spread across Steamboat Springs and Hayden, Colorado.
